ABOUT
Ronna Magy is a poet, memoirist, and social justice advocate born in Detroit who calls Los Angeles home. She writes about the intersections of family, feminism, trauma, aging, and civil rights. Ronna believes that both the written and spoken word can heal the past and build connections across generations and cultures.
Ronna’s writing is forthcoming or has been published in journals and anthologies including Rise Up Review, Cholla Needles, The Los Angeles Press, Silver Birch Press, Women in a Golden State, Poetry Super Highway, Persimmon Tree, Sinister Wisdom, Writing in a Woman’s Voice, Writers Resist, and Lady Business: A Celebration of Lesbian Poetry nominated by the American Library Association for a Rainbow Book Award.
An alumna of the Napa Valley Writers Conference, Ronna has been honored by the City of West Hollywood as a civil rights hero. She’s curated readings of older queer women poets for the Circa: Queer Histories and Outwrite Festivals. A retired English as a Second Language instructor, ESL textbook author, and staff development specialist, Ronna holds an MSW from UC Berkeley.
